It is so important to get the right fit with pointe shoes to avoid injury. The right fit protects your toes and toenails, helps the dancer focus on dancing and not their shoes, provides support in the shank and box, and compliments the dancer's lines. The wrong fit can be very uncomfortable and may cause pain, toe bruising, and possible stress fractures. There can also be shank twisting, sickling, pronating, along with the shoe preventing the dancer from getting over the box if not fitted correctly.
In preparation for a pointe shoe fitting, we recommend that toenails are trimmed short; wear convertible tights; and bring the most recent pair of pointe shoes along with any accessories your normally use with your pointe shoes (toe pads, spacers, etc.). A pointe shoe fitting can be quick or may take as long as necessary until you’re happy and satisfied with your selection. Some dancers’ feet are easier to fit than others, and that’s perfectly okay.
We take pride in educating the dancer; and we work extremely hard to provide the very best fit. Protect the health of your feet and body so that you can dance longer and stronger, extending your dance career! Visit us for a personalized assessment and fitting, along with all your questions. First time fittings take approximately 30-60+ minutes. Appointments are recommended, and there is no charge for pointe shoe fittings.
